Operation: Valentine

Operation: Valentine
Hey guys and gals!!
I would love to encourage all of you to consider joining me in the next week or two in making or buying valentines to send to our brave soldiers serving overseas.
Even if you are a guy, you could find some store bought cards or get a sister or friend to make some for you to write in.
I did this last year, and I really enjoyed making the cards and writing letters inside of them.
Surely you know of someone who has a family member serving our country who could give you an address to send your cards to. Last year, I made about 30 (with the help of some friends) and sent them to a soldier to pass out to his fellow soldiers.
If you do make and send any, let me know! I would love to hear from you. =)

Tea Cup Candles

Tea Cup Candles
These are soooo cute!! I got the tea cups at the thrift store and poured the candles myself! They were fairly easy to pour and did not take too long to make. The best part was gluing the ribbon and buttons on. =) Again, I got the idea from the book pictured above.

Ribbon Mats

Ribbon Mats

I got the idea for these from a Mary Engelbreit Book called Crafts to Decorate Your Home.

They were fairly easy to make, and it was fun to pick out all the matching ribbon. =)

In the book, they were supposed to be table mats, but I think you can use them to set in your room or desk. I think they ended up being about $4.00 a piece (I did get the ribbon on sale).
Basically, I wove the ribbon and tacked it to the side of a cardboard box. Then, I pinned felt on for backing and sewed up the edges. It is what ever you want to do from there; ribbon, lace, buttons, etc. =)
Hopefully, I will make a youtube video soon about how to make them.

scrapboook tip

Future Scrapbook
I picked out the album, paper, and stickers at Hobby Lobby (on sale!) this week. A great tip for scrapbooking is to go ahead and pick all of your albums, paper, etc. out at the same time. It is way easier to keep everything matching! That is, if you are like me and want everything to match. =)
